We're excited to hear that social/physical distanc We're excited to hear that social/physical distancing measures being taken appear to be slowing the spread of Covid-19 here in BC. Keep the good work, people ๐Ÿ™Œ! We're really hoping to be able to bring our awesome crew together on schedule and be able to stand less than 2m apart. ๐ŸŒž #stayhome
March 21, 2020 - COVID-19 Update ~~~~~~~ Dear frie March 21, 2020 - COVID-19 Update
~~~~~~~
Dear friends and customers,
Many of you may be wondering what will happen to the kayaking season in light of the current Covid 19 situation.ย **As of now, weโ€™re still planning to run full operations during our 2020 kayaking season.**
.
We are continuing to monitor the situation closely, and will provide updates if anything changes. Our first multi-day trip doesnโ€™t start until June 12, which is nearly three months away. Given the fluid and ever changing nature of the Covid 19 outbreak, weโ€™re cautiously optimistic that the outbreak will come under control, and we will be able to offer safe and fun kayak excursions.
.
**The health and safety of our guests and staff is our top priority, and we will only operate kayak trips if it becomes safe to do so.**
.
We understand that international travellers are currently facing travel restrictions. We are hopeful that those restrictions will be lifted prior to the start of our season, but continue to monitor the situation, and will be in touch to discuss options if travel restrictions persist.
.
Right now, itโ€™s important that we all do what we can to reduce our risk of exposure or transmission of Covid 19. Getting this virus under control is the best way to ensure a 2020 kayaking season, and a wilderness trip will be just what we all need after we get through this!
.
If you have concerns about this, or anything else, we encourage you to get in touch by phone or email. Weโ€™re always happy to chat, and are hoping for a great season of kayaking! .
Sincerely,
Lannie, Ralph, Kate, Albert, (& Koda) and the whole CME team
There are 4 nights of kayak camping sandwiched between a night on either end at Coast Mountain Lodge on Read Island. It's the perfect trip if you're looking for something on the longer side, but not too strenuous. We just love this classic Desolation Sound view with the mighty Mt. Denman in the backdrop. ๐Ÿž
That's why we only offer our Desolation Sound Expedition in June. Desolation Sound is incredibly beautiful, but also a popular place to visit. Early season offers the best time to visit this spectacular place free of crowds! ๐ŸŒž
Dear friends ~ We hope you are all staying safe an Dear friends ~ We hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these trying times amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. Some of you may be wondering what this all means for our 2020 season. Truthfully, we don't know! We're still several months away from our season start, and we remain hopeful that the situation will resolve and allow us to move forward with business as usual at this time. That may seem like wishful thinking at this point, but what's wrong with wishful thinking? We understand that we may be faced with some difficult decisions ahead. We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and will keep you in the loop! Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns regarding any existing or prospective trip reservation.
While we wait to see how the situation unfolds, we'll continue to post pretty pictures of our kayak trips. We feel that it's important to keep the stoke alive and the positive vibes flowing during these difficult times. Here's a snap of stunning sunset from one of our 2019 Desolation Sound trips, which is next up in our series.
Stay healthy, stay safe, and stay connected. ๐Ÿ’™
The museum features sculptures and mobiles, almost always crafted on-site, and sometimes brilliantly ingenious. Feeling crafty? The collection is "open source", and anyone can contribute! It's just another neat place to check out on our Octopus Islands Adventure! ๐Ÿ˜
The Octopus Islands trip route takes you through t The Octopus Islands trip route takes you through two Provincial Marine Protected Areas: Surge Narrows and the Octopus Islands. Surge Narrows is a tidally active zone which we'll pass through on the second day of paddling. We have to plan the Octopus Islands trip dates around the tidal currents to ensure that we'll be able to get through safely. Not to worry though - we'll be on the water around slack tide, when the currents slow to a brief stop to change direction. The tidal currents pump a lot of nutrient through this area, and the biodiversity thrives. Although we'll be on a timeline to get through the narrows, we'll always spend as much time as we can exploring this special place. ๐ŸŒŠ
