Trails have been a fun part of our fall and winter. We’ve now lived 35 years on this land that suffered logging a decade before our arrival. Watching its recovery has been a real experience – and in recent years the new forest is growing open and sharing beautiful surprises! Exploring our backyard is a real adventure and we’re having lots of fun making trails to share our discoveries.
Solstice and Christmas and 2016 The coming of the light really is something to celebrate in the gray of our winter days. They are so short! We’ve also enjoyed the holidays just past, which has been time at home, blessed with the company of family and friends.
Near midnight we were amazed by the sparkles our flashlight broadcast on the frost-laden landscape of New Year’s Eve. We didn’t see the Aurora Borealis, but the dark night sky was brilliant with twinkling stars, and the silence was immense. We’re grateful for this island time that wraps up 2015, and we experience more-than-ever appreciation for the special place we call home.
We wish you a Happy New Year with much love and laughter, good health and happy adventures.
