We have been guiding kayak trips since 1987. We have taken thousands of participants on daytrips and multiday tours in the Discovery Islands and Fjordlands. There have been a few scrapes and bruises, but for serious incidents we have had only one sprain and one broken ankle. We have never been involved in litigation. We have full insurance coverage. It is necessary for all participants to sign a liability waiver (FYI above) before our sea kayaking British Columbia tours and BC kayak trips. In case of emergency: Be sure your personal insurance is adequate to cover expenses caused by accidents in remote locations. Coast Mountain Expeditions Ltd. assumes no liability regarding provision of medical care, and in the event of an unscheduled evacuation, may expect arising costs to be borne by the client. On advancement of deposit to Coast Mountain Expeditions Ltd., the participant agrees to be bound by all the above-stated terms and conditions.
Safety & Responsibility: We have a perfect safety record since 1987. We travel in areas local to us and are very familiar with this remote inland archipelago, its water and weather conditions. We encourage participants to develop skills and judgment that will lead to self-confidence and self-reliance. Real adventure is not without risk! Please read this (the fine print): We spare no reasonable effort to ensure participants a safe journey. Our guides are highly skilled and experienced. Our high quality equipment is well maintained. Though we take every reasonable precaution, the territory in which we operate is remote and rugged wilderness. Weather conditions can be extreme and cannot always be reliably predicted. We share the habitat of bears, wolves, and cougars though they are rarely encountered. Therefore . . . Disclaimer of liability: Coast Mountain Expeditions Ltd. reserves the right to withdraw any itinerary or service and to without penalty, make alterations as necessary for safe and proper handling of tours. All arrangements made on behalf of Coast Mountain Expeditions Ltd. shall be on the sole condition that we shall not be held responsible for any reason whatsoever, including negligence, for injury, illness, death or accident to participant or clients, or damage to or loss of personal property or for time or expense incurred, or for any irregularity which may be occasioned through acts of any persons and/or company connected with or otherwise engaged in carrying out the services described and in connection herewith.

- Flashlight
Optional
- Binoculars
- Camera (Bring a waterproof camera bag or plastic container—tupperware works!)

Packing Hints:
- For British Columbia kayak trips, quick-dry* synthetic shirts and pants are best.
- Cotton clothes can be damp and uncomfortable for kayaking - dry cotton clothing for around camp is fine.
- Synthetic fleece or wool provide warmth, especially when combined with a wind/rain shell.
- Bring several smaller stuff sacks - 10L 'sleeping bag size' is good. Kayaks have adequate storage space, but the hatch openings are small.
